woke up in london yesterday

(I WROTE MOST OF THIS LAST NIGHT) This jetlag is nuts! I hardly slept on the plane and with the time change, I feel like I'm dying haha it's like 4am here and I'm wide awake because we went to bed at like 9pm! Everyone else is asleep but I'm just chilling. Today we are going to buckingham and Westminster Abby. Me and this other girl Ali want to go to church there one Sunday but since we are getting our church callings tonight, I dunno if we could ever miss church and just not go to our assigned wards? We will have to ask because that would be crazy!

On the flight over here to london, we could see the northern lights it was green and super cool!

I feel bad because a bunch of girls have been sick throwing up and stuff, so everyone has their fingers crossed that it's not the stomach flu because one of the kids she babysits had done gross 24 thing. But she got a blessing last night, so I hope that she feels better.

I think I might do a 5k in Hyde park it's coming up soon. A few of the girls are trying to convince me to do a half marathon, even if I walked a ton of it will still be cool to say that I did a half in London! Plus Hyde park is gorgeous! Its so weird like everyone is so healthy here! (besides smoking cigs all day) I've never seen so many joggers in one place before it's crazy! They are probably all training for the half that's coming up!

It's weird because there aren't any overweight people here or homeless people! Maybe it has to do with the free health care? Who knows!

Funny story...Katie, Natalie, Bree, Maddy and i walked around Hyde Park and Kensington Gardens and I was looking at the gorgeous trees and people watching when I hear this startling noise so I look up and this biker had slammed on his breaks to prevent running into me and gravel went flying everywhere!
I jumped SO high and instinctually grabbed onto Maddy's jacket. The biker whized past and under his breath in a thick accent said, "wake up, eh!?" we were laughing so hard and then saw a sign with rules of the park on it and pedestrians have the right of way! So HAH!

I could only think of the scenes on "Finding Neverland" where Johnny Depp meets those kids at the park! The buildings are amazing! There is so much history!

Today we went to Westminster Abby and Trafalgar Square we climbed on top of a huge brass lion and took a picture. I am lovin' London! I will try to post some pictures later! We stopped and got these really yummy bacon, cheese and tomato croissants. SO good. We watched the changing of the guards at the palace, my goodness what a process! I can't even imagine what it would have been like to be at the Royal Wedding... my goodness.

The food here at the London Center is horrible, I am like always hungry... but I don't want to spend all my money on food! We eat dinner at 5:30pm so by the time 7 hits we are all hungry again. Good thing we live right around the corner from a gelato shop! It started raining on us and I am so glad that I brought a raincoat and have an umbrella! I felt like a local, wandering around in the rain it was fun. I am still trying to get used to the coins and how to use money and everything. But it will get easier eventually. I seriously can't even believe that I am here. it's such a dream... I can't wait until I feel totally submerged in the culture, but its hard to pinpoint what the culture is because London is SUCH a melting pot! I think tomorrow we are going to Wimbledon, and we want to see Les Miserables, I am really excited because I hear that the shows are amazing! Also, Ian and I have both been craving Indian food and we found a really cute little indian place pretty close to Hyde park so we are going to hit that up. I am drooling thinking about food right now.... I am so hungry.

Well... I am off to bed. Its late! Its a little after midnight and we have to get up early but I will post again soon! Sunday we go to our wards and there are 6 of us going to our branch called Crystal Castle. It should be really interesting, we find out what our calling will be when we get there. A bunch of people have already been assigned to give talks, and are sunday school teachers. Its pretty crazy!

I hope that I get a good calling, it will be an amazing way to strengthen my testimony in the church and in myself, as well.

Goodnight!
